Mountain Dulcimers
Hand-crafted and carved hourglass- and teardrop-shaped American mountain-style dulcimers. Each is unique with human or animal head carvings reminiscent of early European stringed instruments. Woods used: black walnut, maple, cherry, oak; tops of soft or hard woods.

American and European Guitars & Ukuleles

Hand-made American parlor and European salon guitars. Steel string parlor guitars are mid-size with a big, full sound. Nylon string salon guitars are smaller and have a lute-style bridge, similar to the 1816 original. Woods used: black walnut, maple, mahogany, koa; tops of recycled, first-growth, Douglas fir and spruce.

Early European Folk Instruments

Custom-crafted examples of European folk instruments from the 6th to 18th centuries, including Saxon and Germanic rotes, psalteries, medieval fiedels, rebecs, harps, symphonies, and hurdy gurdies. Woods vary according to instrument type.

American Folk Instruments

Hand-crafted instruments based on originals from the 19th and 20th centuries, including mountain-style banjos, and flat-back mandolins. Woods used: mahogany, black walnut, maple; mandolin tops of recycled, first-growth, Douglas fir.

Folk Art
